I thought I’d share a college story with you after your advice to negotiate with the colleges.

My daughter was all set for St. John’s University in Queens, NY with a $32k scholarship until the virus.  We decided to not go there for various reasons apart from the health aspect.

That left her with XXX in Chicago with a $22k scholarship and XXX no scholarship.  The colleges had been sending her all sorts of letters signed by the univ. presidents encouraging her to pick them.  We wrote the chancellor of XXX as you had suggested.

He wrote me back the next day that he was looking into it.  2 days later he secured $15k a year ($60,000 for 4 years) for Isabella and she is off to that school in August.

Thank you so much for our meeting yesterday. It was very considerate of you to take time out of your day just for me. When my dad first showed me these tests, I didn’t really see the purpose of them. Knowing what I do now, I am very grateful for this opportunity. It was an accurate way of getting to know myself better. I think the alternate areas of the workforce that my skills could be applied to was very useful. I will definitely take some time to consider those other careers. It was a wonderful opportunity to step back and think why Journalism would be a good fit for me, other than being in my realm of interest. The College advisers are so knowledgeable about helping the student and family plan for college. I’m extremely impressed! By the way, I’ve experienced both (Company X) and what your college advisers do. In my opinion, it is day and night because it is not just the interpretation of the assessment and suggestions about which colleges to apply to. What College Planning America has put together with the expertise of the college advisers is so comprehensive. They walk the student and parents through preparing for college from start to finish.

Dave has obviously put the most attention to the details making each session what it was. He is probably the most dynamic leader I have run across, at least in the field of college planning. Their team has knowledge of all aspects of the process and help in gathering the materials to support it all.
